Boyhood Discovery may be a
Colonial Period Artifact
The knife
pictured here was discovered many years ago by a New London
native as a child while playing in the historic town center. Our
researchers have so far been unable to find a comparable dated
example, but the hand-forged handle suggests it may be a remnant
of New London's colonial past.
The bone handle
was custom fit to the tang
The full tang extends through the
butt of the knife
Who was its
owner?
The most interesting part of this
find might be the monogram on the handle. The letters "S.B."
and perhaps a third initial may someday reveal its original owner's
identity.
