IRS Grants Tax-Exempt Status to Friends of New London

In early February the Friends of New London, Virginia, Inc. received it's long-anticipated federal (501(c)3) tax-exempt status.  This formal recognition of FNL as a charitable organization represents a milestone in the museum's development.  "Today was a good day!" replied the FNL Finance Chair, Ann Hicks, on hearing the news.  The tax-exemption means that anyone who has contributed to FNL since June 13, 2005 may take a federal tax deduction to the fullest extent of the law.  Ms. Hicks said, "We have accepted a number of in-kind donations this past year and should not forget any of these.  A lot of things given for use of FNL have just been mentioned in almost a year of numerous past e-mails back & forth.  Now we can finally word a thank you/receipt correctly to our outside contributors and pat ourselves on the back for being such generous members."
